Come party like it's 1894 at the San Jose Woman's Clubhouse!Dance to your favorite classic rock performed live by Pearl Alley, enjoy great cocktails and noshes, and drop your bloomies with us.
We're collecting at least 1,000 pairs of woman's panties that will be distributed by HomeFirst Services, an organization that provides housing and services for Santa Clara County's 6,500 homeless. Panties are one of the least donated and most needed items for homeless women. Such a small item can mean the difference between dignity and shame for a woman who already has a fragile sense of self.
Bring 5 pairs of panties and get a discount ticket price of just $25. Or we'll purchase the panties and drop them for you with an advance ticket price of $40. Tickets $50 at the door.
Love to dress up? Steampunk or Vintage dress admired. Bloomies were popularized by Amelia Bloomer, who advocated them as part of the 19th century women's dress reform movement.

Hoist a beer, enjoy a sausage and support homeless and at-risk women at SJWC's Third Annual OktoBRAfest.
Lissa Kreisler, KBAY Morning Show Host, will emcee the fest, which is hosted by the San Jose Woman's Club's Be a Dear and Donate a Brassiere Section in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
We've got lots of fun in store, including a Bra Cupcake Decorating Contest, the Ms. and Mr. OktoBRAfest Contest (wear your best lederhosen and your undergarments on the outside!), German Music and Dancing, and a Raffle for Fabulous Local Stay-cations.
Your ticket includes a buffet of German classics: Sausage, Potato Salad, Sauerkraut and Ribs, Bread, Dessert and one beer. Additional beer is available for a suggested donation of $5 or a donation of a new or gently used brassiere.
Jenny Lewis of Strike Brewing will be pouring selections from her brewery. Beers from Gordon Biersch Brewing Company and WILDECIDE Hard Cider will also be available. Many thanks to Strike, Gordon Biersch, and WILDECIDE for providing the beer and cider for OktoBRAfest.
All proceeds benefit Women's Gathering Place, a drop-in center in downtown San Jose that provides a safe community for homeless and at risk women and our Be a Dear and Donate a Brassiere Section, which collects and distributes bras and undergarments for women in need. Be a Dear will also be honoring its mega bra-donation SUPPORTERs.
